The Omega Speedmaster Silver Snoopy Award 50th Anniversary is one of those rare timepieces.
To understand what makes this Speedmaster special, we have to go back to April 1970, when the Apollo 13 mission suffered a catastrophic oxygen tank explosion more than 200,000 miles from Earth. With critical onboard systems compromised, the astronauts relied on their Omega Speedmaster chronographs to time a crucial engine burn that helped guide their damaged spacecraft safely home.
NASA subsequently presented Omega with its prestigious Silver Snoopy Award, recognizing the company's contribution to the safety and success of human spaceflight. Fifty years later, Omega commemorated that remarkable achievement with this extraordinary Speedmaster.
And what a tribute it is.
The silver dial, deep blue subdials, and matching blue ceramic bezel create a combination that is both elegant and unmistakably Speedmaster. At nine o'clock, Snoopy appears in his spacesuit, a charming reminder of the remarkable history behind this watch. The blue nylon strap completes the presentation beautifully, giving the watch a comfortable, relaxed character that makes it surprisingly easy to imagine wearing every day.
But the real magic begins when you turn it over.
Through the sapphire caseback, Earth rotates once every minute, while Snoopy travels across the far side of the Moon in his command and service module when the chronograph is activated. It is an ingenious piece of mechanical storytelling, and one of those details that can hold your attention far longer than you intended.

The case, bezel, crystal, and dial are beautifully preserved, with no notable signs of wear. The original blue nylon strap shows slight evidence of careful use, consistent with a watch that has been worn sparingly and treated with care. Overall, a remarkably well-preserved example of this highly desirable Speedmaster.
