The Aquaracer has always been TAG Heuer's serious dive watch, but this Carbon Limited Edition takes the familiar formula in a very different direction.

The combination of forged carbon, black PVD-coated titanium, and bright yellow accents immediately gives the watch a more aggressive, contemporary personality than a traditional stainless steel diver. The forged carbon bezel is particularly interesting because its pattern is naturally irregular, giving each example a slightly different appearance.

What surprised us most about this watch was how it felt on the wrist. You expect a substantial dive watch when you look at it, but the titanium construction makes it remarkably light and comfortable. It has the visual presence of a serious sports watch without the weight that normally comes with one.

Inside is TAG Heuer's automatic Calibre 5, while 300 meters of water resistance and the unidirectional dive bezel keep the watch firmly rooted in the functional Aquaracer family. But this particular reference feels less like a conventional dive watch and more like TAG Heuer experimenting with the materials and design language of modern performance machines.

Only 750 examples were produced, making this one of the more unusual Aquaracers we've handled.

For us, that's where this watch really works. It isn't trying to be the traditional steel dive watch that everyone already knows. It's lighter, bolder, a little unconventional, and unmistakably modern — exactly the kind of watch that can catch your attention when you thought you were looking for something else.
